When will Appleworks Disappear?
Apple's newest Operating System (Snow Leopard) doesn't natively support Appleworks. We will be migrating to this new operating system this summer and the new computers will NOT have Appleworks installed on them.
When do I stop using Appleworks?
You should stop using Appleworks right away and begin using either iWorks programs or Office programs.
First Step
1. Do not start any new files in Appleworks
2. If you are opening an old file in Appleworks, immediately convert it to a new program before you do anything else with it. See this for notes on converting files Appleworks Conversion Notes.pdf
Second Step
1. Think about how you use Appleworks now & what types of documents you have: spreadsheets, draw etc. as well as how much you have to convert or redesign.
2. Start converting your old documents:
Converting Appleworks and Transitioning to a new Program
Transition to a new Program: If you still use Appleworks, you will need to transition to a new program.
Converting: Everyone will want to review their old Appleworks and convert the ones you want to keep. See attached for notes on converting appleworks to new programs.

Here are links to comparison on the programs
Sharing Between iWork and Office
You will find that iWork programs allow you to save or export as any of the Office programs.
ie: Pages allows you to save as a Word Document. Keynote as a Powerpoint.
Here is an article discussing the sharing between the 2 programs
We are here to support you in your decision on what program to use so please stop by and see Todd, Suzanne, or I as well as Nadine or Diane.
