April 21, 2009 Meeting Minutes
In Attendance: Jessica Barrett, Andrea Bonner, Andy Coppinger, Tom Dawson, Jody Eichhorn, Matt Jensen, Mike Lancor, Lori Lenart, Alicia Morerod, Kim Prause and Laurie Whitley
Andrea Bonner began the meeting at 6:00 p.m. in the Moultonborough Public Library meeting room.
Ongoing Projects:
• Lock-in Recap: This very successful event was held at Moultonborough Academy from 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17 to 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, the 18th. Forty-five (45) students in grades 9, 10 and 11 spent the night at MA. Special thanks to the following chaperones and assistants: Andrea Bonner, Jody Eichhorn, Alicia Morerod, Jessica Barrett, Katie McCann, Chris
Eisenberg, Nick French, Jim Fritz, Donna Kuethe, Katie Hull, Shawn Haskins, Officer Peter John, Corp. Canfield and Dorothy Veracka. Thanks also to the multitude of sponsors for this event including the Town of Moultonborough, Moultonborough Police Association, PTA and School Board, McDonald’s of Meredith, EM Heath’s, Dunkin Donuts, Murphy’s, Subway, Hannaford and Shaws.
• After Prom Party: Officer Jody Eichhorn has finalized all reservations and arrangements for this event to begin at midnight following the Junior/Senior Prom on May 16, 2009. Prom goers will travel to Hilltop Fun Center for the night and have a private breakfast at a restaurant before returning to MA.
• Spring into Action: This fourth annual event will be held beginning at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 29 at Moultonborough
Academy. Features will include a free barbecue, the Convincer Seatbelt Machine, “foggy goggles”, I.D. clinic for younger children, the Investi”GATOR” and a K-9 demonstration. New this year is a Bike Rodeo for students in grades 3 to 6
sponsored by the Moultonborough Police Department with assistance from the Moultonborough Cycling Club and MC Cycle of Laconia.
New Projects/Activities:
• SPF/SIG Funding: MTA joined the newly formed Carroll County Collaborative in seeking SPF/Sig grant funding. Award
announcements will be made on Thursday, April 23. If the grant is awarded, MTA will play a significant role in helping get
other anti-drug coalitions off the ground in Carroll County.
• Bald Peak Colony: Andrea has submitted a request for $2,000 from Bald Peak Colony with the intent of using the funds to support an MTA Youth Advisory Group.
• MTA Youth Advisory: Andrea Bonner, Alicia Morerod and Matt Jensen will meet with MA students in an effort to establish an MTA Youth Advisory. This group would work in conjunction with MTA.
• Student Survey/Marketing Class: Mr. West’s marketing class has worked with Andrea Bonner to produce a survey regarding MTA. All MA students will complete the survey on Wednesday, April 22. This survey will be used to generate ideas for the MTA Youth Advisory.
• Liquor Enforcement Poster Contest: Ms. Payne’s health class students are entering posters in this statewide contest.
• Statewide Red Ribbon Week Project Live It!: Andrea Bonner wrote a $5,000 grant on behalf of this statewide effort. The grant was received and she will involve MTA and MA students in this effort in October 2009.
• Criteria for Community Substance Abuse P & E CR Funds: Andrea Bonner and Scott Kinmond have completed written criteria for applicants requesting funds from this Town Fund. Andrea Bonner will request that MTA be placed on a Select Board agenda to present these criteria. In May 2008, the Select board requested the MTA draft such criteria.
The meeting adjourned at 7:20 p.m.

The next MTA meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2009 at the Moultonborough Public Library.
