Buildings and Grounds Committee Meeting
Tuesday, February 10, 2009

Committee Members in Attendance:  Bill Blackadar, Mark Borrin, Andy Coppinger, Scott Laliberte, Michael Lancor, John Pendexter, and Kay Peranelli

Others in Attendance: Jean Beadle, Advisory Budget Committee

The meeting began at 7:35 a.m. in the SAU Conference Room.

Exterior Security Cameras:  Committee members reviewed bid prices from the 14 vendors who submitted bids for the 11:00 a.m. bid opening on Friday, February 6, 2009.  Bid documents from the two low bidders were reviewed by committee members with a decision made to accept the low bid of $10,350 from Guardian Technologies, LLC from Laconia.  Mark Borrin moved, and Bill Blackadar seconded a motion, to award the exterior security cameras bid to Guardian Technologies for $10,350 plus an additional $300 to extend the two-year warranty to three years.  The motion carried unanimously.

Thermoscan/Blower Door Quotes:  Committee members reviewed four quotes the District received to conduct infrared image and blower door tests for both MA and MCS.  The report from such tests will include thermographs and control photos, location of problem areas, recommendations for corrective actions and priorities for corrections.  Mark Borrin moved, and Bill Blackadar seconded a motion, to enter into contract with Infrared Analyzers for the amount of $6,950.  The motion carried unanimously.

Parking at MA and MCS:  Mr. Lancor reviewed with committee members the current overflow of MA student parking into the MCS parking lot on Blake Rd.  The Blake Rd. lot is used by approximately 20 MA students daily resulting in very few parking spaces available for parents of MCS students.  This creates a safety issue, especially between 8:15 and 8:30 a.m., when parents are dropping off MCS students.

Committee members will review the following options when considering buildings and grounds projects during the 2009-2010 budget year:
•       Construction of a 30 car gravel lot off of Academy Drive (right hand side as one exits MA), and/or
•       Extension of the existing Blake Road gravel parking lot.

The meeting adjourned at 8:50 a.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Michael Lancor,
Superintendent of Schools
