Buildings and Grounds Committee Meeting
Thursday, October 2, 2008
 
 
 
In Attendance:  Bill Blackadar, Harry Blood, MarkBorrin, Andy Coppinger, Scott Laliberte, Michael Lancor, John Pendexter, KayPeranelli and Jean Beadle (Advisory Budget Committee)
 
The meeting began at 7:30 a.m. inthe SAU Conference Room. 
 
• Ground Maintenance Specifications:  Two draftground maintenance specifications documents were reviewed, discussed andrevised.  Request for Bids will beadvertised with bids due on Wednesday, November 5, 2008.  Bidders will be asked to provide costsfor three years (2009, 2010, 2011) with bids submitted for:  1) MA and MCS Lawns and SurroundingAreas Excepting MA Athletic Fields, 2) MA Athletic Fields, and/or 3) both #1and #2 combined.
 
• MCS Classroom Security Locks:  A draft of specifications for 52interior door locksets at MCS was reviewed, discussed and revised.  A Request for Bids will be advertisedwith bids due on Wednesday, November 5, 2008. 
 
• The Jordan Institute:  Kay Peranelli reviewed highlights of aproposal from the Jordan Institute to provide energy efficient evaluation andoversight for a cost effective implementation of energy measures for theDistrict.  MCS received a rating of57% in comparison to other similar buildings and MA received a rating of20%.  Committee members authorizedMrs. Peranelli to secure proposals to conduct thermal imaging testing at MAthis winter to identify heat loss areas.
 
• Televisions:  Discussion took place regardingdisposal of televisions that are no longer needed due to installation ofceiling mounted projectors.  Therewas consensus that disposal will be accomplished by advertising for andaccepting sealed bids.
 
• Exterior Security Cameras atMA:  Bill Blackadar, MarkBorrin, Andy Coppinger and Laura Maroon will visit Inter-Lakes High School onOctober 9, 2008 to examine the security camera system and how it is operatedand maintained.
 
• Future Projects:  Mr. Blood mentioned the following itemsto be placed on the list of projects for future consideration:  resurfacing or repair of track surface,paving the two walkway entries to the track, leveling and reseeding the soccerfield inside the track, repairing/replacing the MA bleachers, and resurfacing theMA locker room floors.
 
The next Buildings and GroundsCommittee Meeting will begin at 7:30 a.m. in the SAU conference room onTuesday, October 21.  Agenda itemsfor the next meeting will include MA exterior security cameras, Blake Roadparking lots and 2009-2010 budget development.
