Buildings and Grounds Committee Meeting
Wednesday, June 18, 2008

In Attendance:            Bill Blackadar, Mark Borrin, Andy Coppinger, Mike Lancor, John Pendexter and Kay Peranelli

The meeting began at 7:30 a.m. in the SAU Conference Room.

Parking Lot Possibilities:  Committee members reviewed wetlandsurveys for two potential parking sites: 1) between the third base side of theMA baseball field and Blake Road, and 2) off the south side of the gravelaccess drive leading from Blake Road to the Athletic track.

A decision was made to request proposals from engineering companies to provideplans to develop up to 26 parking spaces near the baseball field and up tot 60parking spaces off the athletic track access road.  The baseball field parking lot will not conform to currentTown of Moultonborough ordinances, whereas the athletic track parking area willconform to current setback requirements from the center of Blake Road andadjacent wetlands.  The SchoolDistrict is not required to secure a permit to construct either parkinglot.  If the District moves forwardwith either lot, a courtesy letter will be written to the Town’s PlanningBoard.

Security Cameras at MA:  A decision was made to continue studying the use and installation of exterior cameras only at MA.  The consensus was not to installinterior cameras at Moultonborough Academy.

Laura Maroon joined the meeting to discuss software needed for various camerasystems.  It was decided that BillBlackadar, Mark Borrin, Andy Coppinger and Laura Maroon will continue to studythis matter and will visit Inter-Lakes High School, Kingswood High School,and/or Kennett High School to see first hand one or more established securitycamera systems.  The Buildings andGrounds Committee will reconvene regarding this matter during July or August.

Door Locks at MCS:  Mr. Pendexter, Mrs. Peranelli and Mr.Lancor have unsuccessfully tried to get proposals from Bob’s Lock and Key and A& B Lock to replace all classroom locksets at MCS.  Discussion took place regarding the possibilityof electronic door locks as an alternative.  Mr. Pendexter will try to get proposals for electronic doorlock systems.
